  • Strips for monitoring the deterioration of cellulose acetate film.

  • Cellulose acetate films slowly decompose at room temperature, emitting gases that resemble the aroma of vinegar - hence the process is known as "vinegar syndrome".

  • These strips represent a safe way to detect and measure vinegar syndrome in film collections. When placed inside the containers, they change color in the presence of acid vapors. Each kit contains complete instructions for use, a reference pencil printed with the four bands of color corresponding to the acidity levels, and 250 detector strips (38x10mm).
